Mouton Rothschild, a prestigious winery that created Mouton Cadet in 1930.
The 2019 Mouton Cadet is a wine composed largely of Merlot, which presents a beautiful deep red color with purple highlights. On the nose, fruity aromas with a spicy finish. The palate is rich and powerful, and finishes with the same spicy notes found on the nose, and even a hint of mint and freshness.
In 1922, Baron Philippe de Rothschild, great-grandson of Nathaniel de Rothschild, assumed responsibility for Mouton Rothschild at the age of twenty. During a reign that spanned more than sixty years, his decisions profoundly influenced the world of wine. He elevated the image of the family château to the forefront and considerably expanded the property's geographical reach.
In 1930, Mouton Cadet was born, the fruit of the history between Bordeaux wines and Baron Philippe. As the youngest of the family and owner of Mouton Rothschild, he wanted to make the richness of the prestigious Bordeaux terroir accessible to a wider audience.
In 1988, upon the death of her father, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild continued Baron Philippe's work and philosophy. She strived to make Mouton Cadet a great Bordeaux wine accessible to all. A tireless ambassador, she promoted the brand on every continent, making Mouton Cadet the number one selling Bordeaux wine brand in the world. In 2004, she innovated by giving Mouton Cadet a new, rounder and fruitier style, reflected in the new appearance of the bottle, which she designed herself.
