The Maison Heidsieck & C° Monopole was founded by Florens-Louis Heidsieck, a young German from Westphalia in 1785.
1818 marks the year when Heidsieck & C° Monopole became a patented supplier to the King of Prussia and the Emperor of Germany. It also became official supplier to Tsar Nicolas II in 1907.
In 1998, the Jönköping wreck was discovered by a Swedish submarine expedition, and brought up from its holds 2,400 bottles of Heidsieck Champagne & C° Monopole vintage 1907 For the record, on November 3, 1916, the Jönköping expedition with 3,000 bottles of Heidsieck & C° Monopole champagne, intended for the headquarters of the Imperial Army in Saint Petersburg, was sunk by a sub- German sailor. Surprisingly, the champagne turned out to be excellent. The wooden crates, the darkness of the seabed as well as the constant water pressure and temperature allowed the bottles to be kept in good condition. The first of these bottles was sold at Christie's in London the same year for 4,068 Dollars, a record for a bottle of champagne.

Champagne Heidsieck Monopole Brut has a straw yellow color, clear, with brilliant reflections. On the nose, aromas of yellow fruits, especially peach, are complemented by floral notes. The palate is round, full and fruity and still dominated by peaches. This cuvée from Maison Heidsieck & Co Monopole is of great aromatic richness. It has woody, spicy, toasted and even buttery notes. A vintage full of finesse!
