Born from the Ben Zaken family's (founders of Domaine du Castel) return to their roots, Razi'el Red 2018 is a fascinating signature wine. This Mediterranean blend of Syrah and Carignan (Old Vines) breaks away from the classic Bordeaux style to offer a vibrant experience, marked by spices, wild black fruit, and a unique mineral elegance.
Its complexity and freshness make it the dream partner for a beautiful piece of dry-aged beef, a seven-hour leg of lamb, or dishes with truffles.
This is a great age-worthy wine that requires attention: we imperatively recommend decanting it two hours before serving, between 18°C and 20°C, so it can reveal all its finesse.
The Razi'el estate is the intimate and visionary project of Eli Ben Zaken. Located in the historic farm of Ramat Razi'el (where the Castel adventure began), this vineyard is dedicated to exploring Rhone and Mediterranean varietals, perfectly adapted to the climate of the Judean Hills. This 2018 vintage is striking proof that the region can produce world-class wines off the beaten path of Cabernet Sauvignon.
This wine benefited from a long aging period of 18 months in French oak barrels. This meticulous care gives it a velvety tannic structure and remarkable aging potential .
Upon tasting, Razi'el 2018 impresses with its deep purple hue. The nose is a festival of aromas featuring blackberry, blueberry, black pepper, and aromatic herbs (garrigue), supported by discreet smoky and toasted notes. On the palate, unlike massive power, it plays the card of tension and balance, with a long and saline finish reminiscent of great Northern Rhone wines .
