Layam Red 2023 is made from a blend of 8 grape varieties, the main ones being Syrah (c. 60%) and Carignan (c. 20%). The grapes come from the vineyards of Givat Yeshayahu and Mata, which are located at 300m and 700m above sea level respectively.
Each grape variety is fermented separately and aged in barrels for 6 months. The Carignan is fermented in amphorae with a very long maceration, on the skins, for 6 months. The blend is then made and continues its maturation for another 8 months in barrels (about 5% new barrels).
Layam Red represents a magnificent expression of the Mediterranean climate and the local terroir. It is a wine of beautiful balance, complex but light with a silky texture and tangy aromas of cherry and plum.
